The RB25DET is a tough block. The oiling system isn't. Stock oil pans surge under lateral load — it's well-documented and it will bite you mid-corner if you ignore it. The standard dipstick tube setup is marginal at best once you're running real power. Sort this stuff early, before you're chasing oil pressure gremlins at the end of a long straight with nowhere to pull off. For the pan, fabricated steel units with a billet rail are the right call. The RTS pan designed specifically for the RB25 addresses surge, seals properly, and handles the heat cycles a track car puts through it every weekend. Breather setup matters too. The RB25 builds crankcase pressure fast under load. A sloppy breather arrangement pushes oil into places it shouldn't be — intake, catch can overflow, wherever it can escape.
