Best Brake Upgrades for 2019+ Toyota A90 Supra
The A90 Supra's factory brakes are a mixed bag. Toyota pulled hard from the BMW parts bin, so the stock setup handles road use fine but runs out of headroom fast once you're carrying real speed into hard braking zones on track. Heat soak, fade, and fluid boil show up within a session or two if you're actually pushing.
The BMW Z4 platform overlap works in your favour here. Caliper rebuild kits — Frenkit covers this application well — are easy to source and worth running through before you fit upgraded pads. Chase a sealing issue mid-season and you'll wish you'd done it earlier.
Compound selection matters more than brand loyalty. A street-biased pad glazes and fades under sustained track load. An aggressive race compound needs heat in it before it bites, which can bite you on a cool-down lap or the drive home. For most track day use, a mid-range performance compound hits the right balance. The WinmaX W3 and CIRCO S88 both work well here — enough cold bite to be safe on the street, enough temperature range to handle a full session. Running extended stints or a heavier spec? Step up to the CIRCO M119.
Braided lines and fresh high-temp fluid round out any brake upgrade. Both are cheap insurance against a spongy pedal when it counts.
