Dowel pins are one of those parts where running the wrong size causes problems that show up elsewhere — misaligned starter engagement, transmission input shaft wear, or worse. Dart's own pin is machined to suit their bellhousing tolerances, so the fit is what it should be. At ten dollars, there is no sensible reason to substitute.
