Why this part
A composite or OEM-style gasket is a liability the moment cylinder pressure climbs beyond factory spec. The Vulcan cut-ring design uses a stainless fire ring to lock sealing load exactly where combustion pressure is highest, holding that seal across repeated heat cycles. For a built RB30, the cost difference between this and a cheaper alternative is trivial compared to a pulled engine.
